Media and Reports

Our reports and resources were developed as a result of an identified gap in peer-reviewed data and literature that adequately highlights the role of stigma on health inequities for youth with parents who have substance use challenges. By combining our stories with the data, we aim to strengthen the ecosystem of support for families and forge a new path forward where every youth and their parent can access support and resources without fear of harm.

The Intergenerational Impact of Substance Use Stigma

In this video, Starlings Community, discuss the impact of substance use stigma on children, youth and families, and provide recommendations for how healthcare and social service policies can take a strengths-based approach to better health and wellbeing for communities.

Thanks for being here.

We are all a part of the village raising the next generation. How can you BEST contribute.

In the spirit of respect, reciprocity and truth, we honour and acknowledge Moh’kinsstis, and the traditional Treaty 7 territory and oral practices of the Blackfoot confederacy: Siksika, Kainai, Piikani, as well as the Îyâxe Nakoda and Tsuut’ina nations. We acknowledge that this territory is home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3 within the historical Northwest Métis homeland. We acknowledge all Nations – Indigenous and non – who live, work and play on this land, and who honour and celebrate this territory. Finally, we remain committed to continue to learn about the truth regarding Colonialism and residential schools in Canada, and will actively work towards reconciliation while advocating for our government to do so as well.
